Criminal, Administrative Offenses and Compliance

The Criminal, Administrative Offences and Compliance team provides CS Associados’ Clients with fully comprehensive advice, focusing on the specific regulatory aspects inherent to different business sectors, either from a preventive perspective – through the development of compliance policies and their implementation, thus preventing entities performing unlawful practices and avoiding the resulting liability – or from a litigation perspective, working closely with the Firm's other practice areas.

The advice rendered comprises close assistance and monitoring of proceedings before national and international courts (including the Court of Auditors, the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights), regulators (as the Securities Market Commission, the Bank of Portugal, the Competition Authority, the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority and the General Inspection of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Territorial Planning) and parliamentary inquiry committees, also ensuring support in pre- and post-litigation negotiations. It also includes the initiation and follow-up of other proceedings in which the practice has significant experience in the dynamics of investigation and defence, including internal investigations in any company or sector and national and international sports disciplinary proceedings.
